A Second Litter Arrives - The Lively L's!

We're very pleased to announce the arrival of another litter of CCI pups. Dawna had her second litter on Wednesday, 2/2. The pups began to arrive in the late afternoon and were all delivered by mid-evening.

The sire is Kauffman, a yellow lab. He's a brand new breeder for CCI--this is his very first litter.

There are ten pups, seven boys (six yellow, one black) and three girls (two yellow, one black). They're the L litter. Names will arrive in several more weeks.

We'll also be posting updates about the F litter very soon.

And the daddy is.... Kauffman

Dawna's second litter was sired by Kauffman a brand new male breeder. He is a purebred yellow labrador retriever who is just a little younger than her, born in March of the same year.

We've learned that Kaufmann was out of Novell by Jaker. He was raised at Gadsen Correctional in FL. This will be his very first litter. We're still trying to contact his BC, and will post a picture of dad if we can.

Update on the Fabulous F Litter

We've heard from many of the puppy raisers for the F Litter. Here's a update on the pups:

Feather: Being raised in the NW region, greater Sacramento area Feather is being raised by Dawna's PR. She reports that Feather is a active, impish and spunky girl who loves people very, very much.

Fawn: Being raised in the SW region, near Fluffy Fluffy: Being raised in the SW region, near Fawn (Fluffy is pictured below) Fluffy is being raised by Dawna's BC. She reports that Fluffy is a gentle, loving pup who reminds her of Dawna's mom, Makia.

Fergenson: Being raised in the NE region Fergenson is being raised along the east coast. He sometimes gets to ride a ferry. His PR reports that he is quite loving and is well liked by those he meets. Fergenson had the good luck to meet the CCI volunteer after whom he is named at a CCI graduation.

Fitz: Being raised in the SE region, near Finnian (Fitz is pictured below) Finnian: Being raised in the SE region, near Fitz Fitz and Finnian got to attend a CCI pool party as young pups and learn from the example of older pups in program. By all reports both pups had a blast!

Farina: Being raised in the NE region Farina's PR reports that she is also a spunky, loving pup.

We know that Funston and Felipe are being raised in the North Central region but haven't gotten any updates about these pups.

A 7 1/2 mo heat cycle

Dawna surprised us today by going into season at 7 1/2 mos since her last season started. Of course she couldn't wait a few days for our already planned trip to Santa Rosa for Thanksgiving. Off to CCI tomorrow for some time at the spa.
Chelan (our COC) will come along for the ride and some extra exercise if the play yard isn't too wet.

The F Litter moved on to a new phase of their CCI adventure today. They left our home and arrived at puppy park at the CCI National Campus in Santa Rosa. Tomorrow they will begin to move all around the country, joining their puppy raisers in the great adventure of learning to be CCI dogs. Here's a glimpse at the beginnings of that grand adventure.

Into the car, into our crates!




We yowled (not too much) and then we slept (soundly). And then we got to this new wonderful place!! Out of the car, into the cart (we practiced this already in the garden cart at our first home). Off to puppy park for us!






And then the pups were at puppy park.











And they always love their Mama Dawna...



And after a very busy morning, they curl up for a snooze. The pups love each other, too!

We learned good!

The pups have learned their lessons well. Mama Dawna showed them how to play with the rings. They spent their last night with us showing her how well they learned!



The pups have also been learning how to be in crates. Here's a little taste of some of that experience.

Dawna's F Litter has a portrait! Please remember that all of the names are preliminary until CCI finalizes them prior to sending the pups to puppy raisers. But for now... Drumroll, please....

Let's roll back the film just a bit. Getting a picture of nine puppies takes a bit of doing and a LOT of help. It also takes some time--puppies need to have played hard and tired themselves out before even starting!
